Ethereal is also a computer program for tracing the flow of traffic over Ethernet LANS. It is a portmanteau of "Ethernet" and "real", in that it makes the invisible traffic "real" to network troubleshooters.

Not sure if I missed it, but "scratch" can also being a noun meaning "nothing", as in "He started from 'scratch' and built a fortune".
