Re: MISCEGENATION
Yeah, I'm with Perry. I've heard milk referred to as "moo juice". Heard it most of my life. I've also heard it called "cow sweat".

Re: PENSIVE
Some of the most relaxing times I've spent have been spent in pensive thought. Sometimes there's a very thin line between pensive thought and daydreaming. In my case, the main difference is that in daydreaming I work out a lot of my fantasies while in pensive thought I find a solution to a lot of pr...

Re: MISCEGENATION
Great post, P. Hudson, and I agree. My family is a mixture of Anglos, Hispanics and Philippinos. There's even some French mixed in there several generations back. I repeat from my last post, what if one day we just looked at each other as human beings and not what "blood" we have? I'll bet...

I, too, had to look up the term "birther movement". Interesting. I knew the doubt surrounding BO's citizenship but never knew it had actually sparked a "movement". Educational post.

Re: subduction
Also, my "bienvenidos" a czarinakat. Look forward to seeing your posts. On another vein, I have heard many people say duck tape or ducked tape instead of duct tape. Here at our local Walmart, I have actually seen the item "Duck Tape" on the shelf (the wrapping actually has a clip...

Re: SOCIALISM
Some of what was posted here on this topic is a little over my head (not having read a lot of Lewis or Kant, etc). This much I do know: when it comes to evil, first we abhor it, then we accept it, then we embrace it. The problem, it seems, is in the definition of "evil" (in the sense that ...

Re: SUBDUCTION
Peeps are very popular here in the Deep South. Cannot stand them myself. Thank goodness they only come out once a year. Honestly, I don't think they biodegrade (sort of like styrofoam), so the Peeps you buy today may have been formed sometime in the last century. Just my opinion.

Re: MISCEGENATION
Here in the Deep South miscegenation is still an issue, though not as big a deal as it used to be (at least not where I live). What if one day we just looked at each other as human beings and not so much as what "blood" we have? Just wondering.

Re: TYPHOON
Having been born and raised in Houston, Texas, I have sat through my share of hurricanes (as they're called in the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico). Wicked beasts! Only once did I have to mandatorily evacuate an area because of a hurricane and that was once when I lived in Florida. Amazing occurrences!

Re: BIBLIOPHILE
I consider myself a bibliophile, although I would never say I study the classics. I mainly consider myself someone who could be called an avid reader.

Re: BOWDLERIZE
Slava, I looked at a bunch of thesauruses and could not find an antonym I felt adequate. There's words like "suitable", "permit" and "okay" but somehow they felt pretty soft. I like a challenge and will keep looking.

Re: BOWDLERIZE
Thanks, Luke, for the reminder. I really like Turner Classic Movies and we watch that a lot. Great movies on that channel! Silent movies, foreign movies, musicals, classic movies, I kind of like them all. So many movies, so little time!

Re: BOWDLERIZE
My wife and I like to watch movies although it's getting more and more difficult to find one without an overabundance of foul language. She can't stand the f-bombs, especially. We have walked out of the movie house before. Anymore, even some new releases rental movies are pretty bawdy. I guess I'm t...
