Heard today in the local grocery store: a gentleman to his
wife on noticing a young man ahead of him in checkout line:
"It's a tad bit cold (temp was +12) to be wearing a muscle
shirt and shorts today".

And in the 'for what it's worth' department
Hawai'i should have the apostrophe, as it is
a vowel in their language. So in this age of
diversity we should respect them.

Re: Hock
Going back to the original Latin declension bit, and tying in with throat clearing, we do have the highly irregular Latin verb:
spitto, spittere, hocktui, splatum.
The best I've heard in months. Bravo

Re: Hock
I've seen 'hough' - what is that?
I cannot remember the context, except maybe as one of the
'ough' words.

I am reminded of Star Trek's Spock being able to 'meld'
two minds to share one in his Mind Meld, His father, Sarek,
did so with Jean-Luc Picard as well.

The royal family of the Netherlands is the House of Orange-Nassau.
King Willem-Alexander often wears an Orange necktie and Queen
Maxima accessorizes in Orange. When visiting the provinces
school children greet them with orange flags and flowers.
