Hanker

Another under-used good word. But again I can't find a plausible etymology. Can anyone help?

Checked AlphaDictionary and found numerous references. Prob comes from similar Danish word.

It reminded me of hunker, so I checked that out, and it's from a different Scandinavian word. No sign fof relationship, but also no N in either etymology.

Hanker is used a lot in the south and west, as in I got a hankerin' for fried chicken.
