Turning a brown or dusky color. The word is often used in ophthalmology.

Ah, but that's better than telling someone "You're so full of crap, if you're eyes aren't brunescent it's because you're a quart low."Hmmm: "Your eyes are like limpid pools of brunescense" just lacks a certain je ne sais quoi .
