a wanton; a lascivious or light, giddy girl
It doesn't seem like a real word.

I know what you mean. The association of giggle comes to mind too quickly.

But seriously folks, the connection between the wanton, lacivious definition, and the giddy definition seems more like a pejorative judgement call, than it does entymology.
gig (1)
"light carriage, small boat," 1790, perhaps, on notion of bouncing, from M.E. ghyg "spinning top" (in whyrlegyg, 1440), also "giddy girl" (giglet), from O.N. geiga "turn sideways," or Dan. gig "spinning top."

From the Online Etymological Dictionary
"Time is nature's way of keeping everything from happening all at once. Lately it hasn't been working."

This word seems tailor-made for a collective noun: a giglet of schoolgirls.

you're right Gailr, it has a collective noun feel.

Maybe the wanton and lacivious definition was tied in with giddy-up?

Looks to be formed like chicklet or, no judgment intended, piglet. And looks at first glance like gidget.

And here I thought it was a performer's term for a short show. I think I've already used it as such. Is this from the Urpin' Dictionary?
