Mug

mug
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): mugged; mug·ging
Etymology: probably from earlier mug to strike in the face, perhaps from 1mug
1 : to assault usually with intent to rob
2 : to attack suddenly : BUSHWHACK <got mugged in the press by his colleagues>

Wondered where this came from. Interesting that it comes from "to strike in the face", and "mugging" (for the camera) also deals with the face...

Funny, but I think of mugging (not the posing f0r cameras sense) as an attack from behind.
