Recidivism

Postby sluggo » Sun Nov 19, 2006 1:56 am

Recidivism: habitual relapse into crime, a state with which those of us recidivists who frequent the pun thread are all familiars.

Regardless of meaning this is just one of those words that rolls out with the rhythm of a samba band.
Stop! Murder us not, tonsured rumpots! Knife no one, fink!

great word there Sluggo, but doesn't it also mean to relapse from Medieval Latin recidvre, from Latin recidvus, falling back, from recidere, to fall back : re-, re- + cadere, to fall; see kad- in Indo-European roots.]

I think both of you, Sluggo and Bailey are correct.

I don't work with little junior recidivists any more and am happy about that! So, now I just relapse into relief while relaxing in my recliner.

The word also reminds me of one of he prison movies--Cool Hand Luke?
