I admit I am a type of Luddite. Not the kind that goes around destroying machinery, but the type that doesn't take well to many modern intrusions of technology. For example, I do not and do not wish ever to have a cell phone of any type.
My hope is that our Good Doctor could give us an excursus on the difference between the contemporary usage of Luddite and a long ago previously treated word, mumpsimus.
How can we use these properly and to good effect?

I think every thoughtful person has a little bit of Luddite spirit in her/him. Change is inevitable, but the rate of change is so great now that it is hard for anyone to keep pace.
It is dark at night, but the Sun will come up and then we can see.
