navigate, naval, navasana
This morning in yoga class we were lead in the "boat pose" to which I responded "navasana" which is boat pose in yoga lingo. Our good teacher realized how close this sounded to the above word and I gave her the explanation that both share a common origin from the great proto Indo European language. She was a bit skeptical and asked me to prove it. I had previously engaged in communication with someone from Dr. Goodword about this, but can not locate that correspondence. Help!

Re: navigate, naval, navasana
Hmm, I recognize the idea of the "nav" root being related, but is the Sanskrit root truly part and parcel of the PIE root? That is to say, are they related?

Yes. I was in communication with someone at this site and she confirmed it, but I deleted that string and am not clever enough to do my own research. How do linguists research these issues?
