1. Dark, drab, dull, dingy.

2. Dark clothing, especially formal dress worn at some universities, e.g. Oxford.

(From Latin subfuscus, moderately dark, from fuscus, dark, black, brown)

A fun find. I wonder if for the sake of obfuscation you could use it to describe a speech, or one's hopes in an election.
