I like how in English we have a spectrum of words with fine shades of differences and how this one conjures up an admirable trait of resolve. On the other hand someone with this same trait that we do not agree with is considered stubborn, an unworthy trait. I do not know enough about other languages to ascertain if there is an abundance of what I refer to as these "two sides, same coin" words.

Interestingly, we have yet even to see a workup of stead, part and parcel of homestead, related suggestions.
