I always pronounced as two syllables. Come to think of it, is syllable related to syllabus, which we always called silly busses?

I can not tell you how refreshing it is to see this in print. My high school Latin teacher told us over 45 years ago that the "exit" signs should read exeunt, as more than one person leaves through public doors. I think of that admonition many times when exeunting under such a sign.
