I've seen some definitions that call this a symbiotic relationship. However, commensal seems one-sided. In a symbiotic relationship, don't both sides derive benefit?

Commensal can also serve as a noun, meaning a dining partner, someone eating at the same table. So in the feast scene of The Adventures of Robin Hood, everyone there is a commensal. If you eat in an office dining hall you could get weird and great people as you sit down with a hearty, "Greetings commensals!"
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
