tattle

Postby William Hupy » Fri Nov 21, 2014 12:39 pm

We all know tattletales. However, we do not all know how this word came to us. Now you will. From the late 15th century, meaning to prattle. It runs the gamut of most German languages. It was used as a noun in 1520s for a periodical, The Tattler.
