effusive
Even my effusive praise of this site does not result in a successful submission. From Latin, a pouring out.

Re: effusive
I did discover another form of this word, of which I was not previously familiar: effusion.

Re: effusive
I am about to enjoy an effusive event resulting in an infusion of tea leaves in hot water. I guess there will also be some effusion as the kettle boils.
I don't think I shall ask if my colleagues wish to join me in those terms though as they may consider such sesquipedalianism offensive.

Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.

PSSST, Perry. Lain's name is actually Iain. That's a sans serif capital i.Hey Lain! We're not antisesquipedalians here!

Well, I'd rather think anyone interested in hanging out here self-selects as sesquipedalian here. It's not a place to call someone out for excessively florid vocabulary! In 'real life' however it may be circumspect to avoid accusations of pretentiousness, though no-one is liable to try and steal my lunch money these days.
Yes, it is Iain, Gaelic spelling of Ian, though I don't take offence at misreadings in general.

Re: effusive
Nor do I, having often been called Lancaster, Lester, Laster, and whatever. And if others spell it...who knows? I do appologize, however Iain, because you told me that once before, and once should be enough.
Actually, I chose to use the word antisesquipedalian, because a friend in college spelled that right after I spelled antidisestablishmentarianism, which I can still reel off.
