nevermore

Postby eberntson » Fri May 01, 2015 11:36 am

not happening again; never again.

This 12th century word may have little in inherent history, but it's heart wrenching Gothic usage by Edgar Allen in his "The Raven" makes it a super-star among words. I personally hear the word and a mental storm arises where it is pounding in my mind and needs to be whispered, spoken, and screamed. I'm a bit of a Poe-Goth-fan!

Just a thought, and if it doesn't elicit a reaction, I will mention it NEVERMORE!

Which is the original? Evermore or nevermore? Which became the antonym. (Of course I know they are now both antonyms of each other, but which came first, the turkey or the egg?)

All I know is the raven, goose, and egg came before the quill-pen and parchment. :P

Gee, I didn't know parchment had anything to do with fowl. I would have thunk the sheep or goat came first there.
