vile
We must have an abundance of words for this concept. Is this due to the tendency among the English nobility to look down their noses at the peasants? They must have spend incredible amounts of their idle time conjuring up words to describe them. That is, when they were not hunting them down. This word perhaps comes from the PIE *wes- and certainly from French.

Re: vile
One of many words that remind me of Tom Lehrer. Here for "lurid, licentious, and vile...".
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
