Re: Spry
Hi PRGODDESS
Good word, seemingly generally reserved for the elderly, who we might otherwise expect to be infirm or doddery.
Sadly I (and perhaps others in the UK?) am reminded by this word of a certain Eunice Spry, a Jehovah's Witness who might be regarded as profoundly unpleasant.

These incidents do not encourage me to see devout religion as a good thing - this extreme devotion can seem to cause the bad side of humanity to come out in a very dark way.

Re: Spry
Actually, according to the OED, this word is current only in some dialects in the UK and is heard more frequently in the general population of the US.
