I think this word is often used for concepts rather than people with a connotation that the adversity is intrinsic and often mutual. "In this operation, speed is inimical to accuracy". "A belief that 'the customer is always right' results in customized products and is consequently inimical to our efforts to reduce costs through standardization." "Marion Kine and Phil Anders have inimical relationship goals"

To use it for a person, perhaps we could say that Phil Anders' presence would be inimical to a couples' party.
