Semiosis v. Semiotics

Postby Slava » Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:04 pm

I just came across the first word, and felt it was odd. It does exist, but my understanding is that it is more about signs in biology, rather than the discussion of signs in language.

Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Do you agree with my take on this, or am I off my rocker?

Thank you,

Slava

You're asking US if you're off your rocker!? That's a sure sign of how far you've gone...

The only thoughts I've had about this is that semiosis is a word in the realm of biology, and where I first learned the word--but that, alas, would be a sign of my training.
