Happy Banned Books Week

Postby Slava » Mon Sep 22, 2014 6:12 pm

Here is a fun piece from Alexandra Petri, the humor columnist for the Washington Post:

I don't know all the books, but the ones I do fit right in.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.

Good piece, but don't miss the jump to the second article, just as good.

By coincidence, I plan to tell the 3 Little Pigs to initiate mya prayer mtg series next month. I'll use a somewhat different moral, however,

Is there a pig or wolf constituency that rates enough to command a book ban? Some people who want books banned are considered prudes and are thus castigated by a discerning public. All the while, books judged to be politically incorrect are quietly banned in great numbers. Black Sambo wasn't even an African. Tigers aren't native to Africa. But that book got banned anyway.
