Non-plussed

Postby Perry » Fri Jun 20, 2008 11:13 am

This is a bit of a funny idiom when you look at the etymology.
non·plus (nn-pls)
tr.v. non·plused also non·plussed, non·plus·ing also non·plus·sing, non·plus·es also non·plus·ses
To put at a loss as to what to think, say, or do; bewilder.
n.
A state of perplexity, confusion, or bewilderment.

[From Latin nŏn plŭs, no more.]

So in that respect have we gone from completely plussed to plus-plussed?

Now I am non-plussed. By the date, I am guessing that this is before Gail let me know "where had all the flowers gone", if you get my drift.

Are you saying we've been nonplussed multiple times?

That was as recently as February. My mind must really be going; I just don't know where it is going to.
