Hey Doc,
I was playing Scrabble, and got clobbered by this word, 'twaddle' and was curious as to its origin, history, etc. Can you help me out? Thanks.
p.s. I'm not sure it will make me feel okay about losing, but now that I know it's out there, maybe some day, I'll be able to clobber someone else!

Hear hear!
Twaddle is an excellent suggestion for the Good Doctor, as he's graced us with many synonyms thereof. I think of it in conjunction with flummeryowing to the character of Ebenezer Scrooge, but it's also been invoked in many of the aforementioned synonyms; do a site search on flimflam, folderol, claptrap, malarkey, palaver, bunk (a hometown word for Perry and meself), and swill.

Stop! Murder us not, tonsured rumpots! Knife no one, fink!

Dearest Sluggo,
You just may be my new best friend, as those suggestions are all such excellent clobbering words for my Scrabble repertoire, based on their tile count. Remind me, however, never to challenge you!
