Timid

Scared, spooked, nervous, etc.

Perhaps a good one for next year's Helloween season?
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.

I think "timid" is too mild a word to share company with the likes of "spooked" or "scared," and "nervous" doesn't have quite the same conotation to me as "timid." "Shy" might be a better synonym.

Stargzer is neither shy nor timid about expressing his opinion in the Alpha Agora.

Timid: A non-boo-sayer, as in "wouldn't to say boo to a goose".

There are geese, as big as swans, some, all over the
parks in our state's capital city. I would not say "boo"
to them either, for whatever reason they can be
spooked easily, and will attack. (as will a swan).
