Onelook Dictionary
Acme
noun: the highest level or degree attainable (Example: "His landscapes were deemed the acme of beauty")
noun: the highest point (of something)
Online Etymology Dictionary
acme
1570, from Gk. akme "(highest) point," from PIE base *ak- "sharp" (see acrid). Written in Gk. letters until c.1620.
Like so many that grew up with Warner Brothers, Looney Tunes and the Fleischman Brothers cartoons, I always think of Acme as the all purpose company name.

Based on the outcome and questionable quality of Wile E.'s purchases, I'd say the company name was a form of false advertising as it was the nadir!

Acme markets are purveyors of fine groceries, not harebrained inventions.

Indeed, and around the Philadelphia area commonly pronounced in three syllables (AK-a-me). Presumably an Irishism(?)

Gotta love it! "All your candy are belong to us". And, yes, that's still the way it's written on the site.

Here's a link to the Church Sign Generator mentioned above.

Silly stuff, to be sure, but fun nonetheless.
