Avatars should be back up, other news.

Hi,

When we upgraded the board software (which was necessary for security and was about five years overdue), a lot of the settings reverted to their default values, and I'm finding them one by one and fixing them.

Avatars should be back up, and as I have time I'm reintroducing some of the customizations and changes to the board from the stock software.

I still need to add in the accented character menu and sub/superscripts (which were custom programming changes that I added myself.) I also need to put the RSS back in (do people use it?)

I have never used the RSS feed, and never even noticed there was one.

I think what I'm going to do is re-create the template from scratch this weekend. I tried to get it online by modifying the old template, but that seems to have been causing problems. So there might be some wonkiness this weekend as I make changes to things.

Here are some major points to work on:

Notification of new posts and PMs is gone.
Posts since last visit is gone.
Unanswered posts is gone.

And, of course, there are the extra problems that are plaguing LukeJavan8. Are they your problems, or his?

Ladies and Gentlemen, pile on and make your voices heard here and now. Speak of what you like, but more importantly, report any and all problems.

It's not a biggie, but I'd like to see the avatars back at their old size. Mine's rather squished.

Here's another new one I just came across. The "Quote" function no longer makes a box in one's post. It's there as plain text.

Yet another quibble, the Search function does not seem to be working correctly. I just looked up today's GW, scalawag, and Search returned only this entry. It ignored the one from 2010.

Another one I just noticed as I was about to post this bit. If Signature is default, you can't cancel it on individual posts.

slava says his avatar is up but squished. It is not visible on my postings.

Still no Word of the Day
Still no email notifications.
Still no responses from people (SLAVA THANKS FOR RESPONDING AS PER ANOTHER
THREAD - BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE IT).

DONT' CARE FOR THE ENTIRE THREAD LOOKING LIKE A WANT ADV. My personal preference
is to bring back the alternating greenbacked postings: added class, and as I say, less
like reading the newspaper want ads.

Have not received replies to Slava, Doc, Andrew, Perry in PM. Slava and Perry said
they replied in another thread, but not on my computer.

Also, "View your posts" now gives me not only my own posts, but all the threads I have participated in which have new posts. I would like, somewhere, a list of just my own posts, so I can see their sequence and frequency at a glance.
