I've always gone for #2, but now that I've looked it up, it appears I have been wrong all these years.

Yeah, that's what i saw, but the first one i posted was first in the dictionary, and i prefer the second, or even more the French one.Webster approves of both.

You won’t find for-mid’-able in older dictionaries, or in the OED in this moment. It’s given, where it is, to reflect widespread ignorance.
