Talk about topical!
Here's a 1920's word that has really come into its own over the last couple of years.
Someone who advocates or fights for the recovery of lost territory or status.
French of course, and related to revenge.
Revanchist

Re: revanchist
A seriously topical word, revanche itself was done a few years ago. Here it is. The example used then is the one that is oh so appropriate today.
Oddly, revanche was not in my spell-check dictionary. I had to add it twice, as the dumb thing doesn't recognize the similarity between Revanche and revanche.

Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.

Re: revanchist
The word was so new to me that I didn't even bother to check whether it had been explored before. But your link Slava, is absolutely fascinating. Partly because it was all written six years ago and partly because George Kovac has added a most interesting comment. Thanks for pointing out the reference.
Maybe it is time for the Good Doctor to revisit revanche.
