Bubbaese for "Uvula"
If you open your mouth wide, you can see a little punching bag hanging from the top of your throat, way back in your mouth. The medical term is "uvula". However, many Southern dialects have a word for it. Does anyone know what it is?

Sunny: repeat after me:
WHEN DRINKING COFFEE, I WILL AVERT MY EYES FROM THE SCREEN UNTIL I HAVE SWALLOWED MY COFFEE AND PUT DOWN MY MUG. ONLY THEN WILL I READ POSTINGS ON THE ALPHA AGORA.

SUNNY: SWALLOW YOUR COFFEE AND PUT DOWN YOUR MUG!
BD, all I can say is that, even though you don't normally see either of them, there is a world of difference between the two . . .I don't know why, but I always mistake the uvula for the vulva.

That works too, I suppose, but in this case it was "you don't" in the sense of "one doesn't."You meaning me? So true.BD, all I can say is that, even though you don't normally see either of them, there is a world of difference between the two . . .

GOOZLE
Everyone in North and South Carolina knows that that little thing is called a "goozle". It is probably known as that elsewhere in the South, too. You have to speak Bubbaese to know this word.
