Good as either a noun or a verb.
As a noun: English Channel, ship channel (in open water, or if enclosed, a canal), a television or internet channel ("Please switch the channel."), supply channel (possibly more often expressed as "supply chain"), other situations where a defined two-way path is implied, although often the direction is one-way at a particular time.
As a verb: to (mentally) channel a source, to create a channel of the shipping variety; possibly others.
Lots of examples in postings for other words, but this one hasn't been addressed yet on its own merits.

Re: Channel
I was going to say it's related to canal, but that doesn't help much as canal hasn't been dug into, either.
