burglar alarm
Two words here, but as I set my neighbour's said deterrent, the etymology alarm started ticking for both.

Well, alarm is here, under alarum. Burglar doesn't seem to have made it to the Dr.'s office just yet. Unless it was DOA. I see, though, that the idea of burglar-alarm actually goes all the way back to 1840 or so.
