There are several kinds of bridges, both "concrete" and conceptual. The first kind can be designed by architects or dentists; the second is a connector, possibly most often used as a verb, but also a musical technique. Then there's the game, which doesn't seem to be related etymologically.
And a while back, Slava turned up a delightful misconstruction relating to "abridge" viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5845&p=35175&hilit=abridge#p35175, which is something else entirely. (But can a vehicle that is truncated by trying to pass under an overpass with too little clearance be said to be "abridged"?)
