Onychophagia

Hair pulling is called Trichotillomania. This sounds like a serious condition however it is in the same vein as Onychophagia - nail biting. It is a sub-conscious action usually stress related. It can be very distressing, both for the sufferer and their family. However, like nail biting, you can STOP.
