dogma (n)

Definition: An article of faith or belief, often pertaining to morality. A statement of ideas or opinion, generally considered by the utterer to be the absolute truth.

Etymology: From Greek dokein (opinion, belief).

Plural form: dogmas, dogmata.

Other forms: dogmatic (adj.), dogmatically (adv.)

Dogma 95is (was) a cinematic movement founded by Danish film director Lars von Trier and others. The point is (was) to establish a number of ironclad rules by which films were to be made, including the exclusive use of hand-held cameras and natural audio. Several films have been produced more-or-less according to the tenets of Dogma 95, most of them rather tiresome.

Whether in religion, politics, or the arts (the arts???), dogma is ultimately about stultifying individual expression. Absolute conformity to mediocrity is the highest good!

Is a statement of an atheist “There is no God’’ dogma?
Is as axiomatic proposition in Physic science dogma?
Is theory about karma a dogma?
The dogma of a man who don’t like dogmas is ‘’I don’t ever want to have dogmas’’
There are orthodox dogmas and heretic dogmas.
To religion dogmas must deal only with God. And describe a truth about God. Heresy stays to the level of ideas. What I understand with my mind that is the truth for me. But Orthodox dogmas must describe with humans words an experience of communication with God or view of God from people. Usually dogmas describe with humans words the non describle απερίγραπτο.
