accipitrine

ac·cip·i·ter
Pronunciation: \ak-ˈsi-pə-tər, ik-\
Function:noun
Etymology:New Latin, genus name, from Latin, hawk
Date: circa 1828

Any of a genus (Accipiter) of medium-sized forest-inhabiting hawks that have short broad wings and a long tail and a characteristic flight pattern of several quick flaps and a glide
— ac·cip·i·trine \-ˈsi-pə-ˌtrīn\ adjective or noun

Ran across this reading when it was used to describe someone as having a nose like a hawk's beak. Also, reminded me of the peregrine/pilgrim connection.

Still a good word, and one that hasn't made it to the Dr.'s operating room yet.

We still haven't found a like word for the doves. Any of the new blood out there care to take a crack at it?
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
