plenipotentiary

I have lately been hearing much in the news about the reconfirmation of Ben Bernanke as Federal Reserve Chairman. Some talk about his 'plenipotentiary' capacity over financial policy and I wondered about this word. Help me out, Dr. Goodword. :?

Good word, sardith. A rather important one, too, IMHO.

Egad! Did I just use an acronym? Horrors!

I'm surprised this one hasn't crossed our bows before now, to tell the truth.

of sorts, and trying not to be too much of a pest or
to offend anyone.
This word, plenipotentiary, was the word of the day
on another "word of the day" site I subscribe to, earlier
this week. Did it ultimately come from this site?
Dumb question, maybe, but I am trying to navigate this
site, and hoping for an answer to some of my posts
so that I can see how the "email you when someone
posts" works. Thanks.

I did see this one on Facebook, but I'm not really sure which day it was. Dr. Goodword is there too, which I really enjoy. :D

I am very new to computer usage: as a teacher only
used them for grades and letter writing. Am a
retired teacher, because the district closed, not because
of age (yet: getting close, however.) I am very
clumsy with use of facebook, can you tell me where
to find what you mentioned above, and how to find it.
(don't clog up the site: if you have time you can PM me.)
I would greatly appreciate it, get lost on facebook.

If I recall correctly, it was the Facebook Word-of-the-day service that is provided when you become a 'Fan' of Dictionary.com, however, I do believe they provide a parallel service through email, if you want to steer clear of the Facebook clutter and such.

Btw, they're not as thorough as Dr. Goodword, nor as imaginative!
