Eurybathic

Postby LukeJavan8 » Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:46 am

seen in a news article about the Louisiana oil spill:

(yoor-uh-BATH-ik)
adjective:: Capable of living in a wide range of depths in water.
From Greek eury- (wide) + bathos (depth). The opposite is stenobathic.

"Eurybathic species are abundant over most of the depth range down to 600-700 m."

And what fragrance bath oil would you prefer?

Penetrating oil, perhaps? (In terms of fragrance, that would be rather bathetic.)
