Wilma was describing her frustrations of trying to communicate with her mother to her husband. "When she starts telling me things are impossible," Wilma was saying, "or that she just can't do something, sure I can go on and on telling her that there are solutions to the problem, but I don't feel it's incumbent on me to force her to live a good life."

I feel that it is incumbent upon me to re-suggest this word, especially as it is an election year. We need to remind the incumbents that it is incumbent upon them to serve the people, not themselves.
Life is like playing chess with chessmen who each have thoughts and feelings and motives of their own.
