LECTORS

Any relation between "lectors" and "electors"--other than the presumption in some quarters that of the two one is presumed to be more eloquent and erudite than the other?

I associate lector with a reader, esp one who reads in church. I believe you find them in the more litugical churches. They can be laymen who read scripture at the appointed place in the service.
