Ambergris

The word ambergris comes from the Old French "ambre gris" or "grey amber". It is whale vomit and used to fix the scent compounds in perfume.

Interestingly, the Arabic word ʿanbar means ambergris, not amber alone. We had to add the grey bit to distinguish it from the yellow sappy stuff.
